Founder of Tenable Network Security and Gula Tech Adventures
Subject: “The Impact and Investment in the Security Evolution: What Cyber Means Today”
Ron Gula will discuss the ongoing rebirths of incident response, risk management and resilient systems. He will show how penetration testers, incident responders and auditors all work on the same problem, but are often at odds with each other, use different tools and don’t speak the same language. He will also discuss some of the big questions facing our industry such as how to measure risk and how the industry should react to cloud computing.
At the Day 2 Techfest luncheon on Aug. 17th, Ron Gula will discuss our nation’s current security issues and discuss his desire to invest in more security-related ventures. Ron Gula will look at the ongoing rebirths of incident response, risk management and resilient systems. Ron Gula started his cyber security career as a network penetration tester for the NSA. At BBN, he developed network honeypots to lure hackers and he ran US Internetworking’s team of penetration testers and incident responders. As CTO of Network Security Wizards, Ron pioneered the art of network security monitoring and produced the Dragon Intrusion Detection System which was recognized as a market leader by Gartner in 2001. As CEO and co-founder of Tenable Network Security, Ron led the company’s rapid growth and product vision from 2002 through 2016. He helped them scale to more than 20,000 customers worldwide, raise $300m in venture capital and achieve revenues in excess of $100m annually.
Ron will also overview Gula Tech Adventures which has invested in more than 13 startups already, and continues to look for software plays that interface or build out the cybersecurity ecosystem. He aims to be investing with larger investment partners, beyond startup funding, beginning in January 2018.
